Prodigal's Home in Sunnyslope

Recently, I was blessed to be contacted by my old friend, Doug Brendel. He is a part of helping to feed around 250 homeless people in "the Slope" - near 7th Ave and Hatcher - every Sunday. From 7:30 to 8 am, they provide donuts, juice and coffee... then at 8:05, warm egg breakfast burritos... then, at 8:30, around 70 people stick around for a church service, under the tents of the "El Grande Taco." For pictures, check out: http://dougbrendel.com/Prodigals/index.html

The entire outreach is put together by caring Christians from various churches and backgrounds. They are truly being the hands of Jesus to our inner city (other feeding ministries are closed on Saturdays and Sundays - so for many this is the only meal they get to eat all weekend.)

For three weeks, I was blessed to share the presence of Christ with these precious men and women of Sunnyslope. I shared messages on "The Fingerprints of God" (God seen in Creation), "The Naked Truth About Adam and Eve" (the voices of temptation) and "Jesus, Our Superman." Afterward, we shared Communion together and I had the privilege of laying my hands upon and praying for each person there. One lady was experiencing internal bleeding and the Lord healed her. Another was suffering from tumors, and the Lord removed them.

Jesus said, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor - to proclaim release to the captives, and recover of sight to the blind, to set free the downtrodden, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord" (Luke 4:18-19).
